Expansion to 14,405 square feet will create the largest laundromat in Texas while adding customer amenities, operational capacity and opportunities for greater community impact.

ABILENE, Texas — August 24, 2026 — Laundry Luv is more than doubling the size of its location at 3202 N. First Street in Abilene, Texas, expanding from 6,240 square feet to a total footprint of 14,405 square feet.

For Laundry Luv, however, the expansion is about more than adding square footage. It is an opportunity to create a larger, more welcoming space for customers while expanding the company’s ability to serve and engage with the Abilene community.

Laundry Luv has built its business around the idea that a laundromat can serve as a neighborhood gathering place as well as an essential service. The company regularly hosts community events ranging from free laundry days to back-to-school giveaways, while its stores incorporate family-focused features such as children’s learning and play areas.

“We’re wanting to lean more and more into the community aspect,” said Ken Wimberly, Co-Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Laundry Luv. “It’s really leaning into what we’re already doing and doing it a little bit better.”

The expanded Abilene location will provide greater flexibility for those efforts, including an additional dedicated children’s area and more space for future events. Laundry Luv is also exploring opportunities to introduce programs successfully used at other locations, such as job-skills training partnerships and community-supported food pantry initiatives.

Growing Alongside Abilene

The 8,165-square-foot expansion comes as Laundry Luv continues to see growing demand at the Abilene store.

“Business has just continued going up and to the right,” Wimberly said. “We’re so busy, we can’t handle any more capacity.”

Rather than opening another location solely to relieve that demand, the availability of adjacent space created an opportunity to expand the existing operation and build on the customer base already established at 3202 N. First Street.

Plans for the expanded location include a new lounge area with more comfortable seating, additional space for customers and laundry carts, and approximately 2,000 square feet of warehouse space for parts, equipment and supplies supporting Laundry Luv’s broader operations.

Two small sublease spaces are also planned, creating opportunities for complementary businesses such as coffee, food or other service concepts that could add to the customer experience.

The existing Laundry Luv space will receive a refresh as part of the project, including updated paint, finishes and other improvements.

Construction is ramping up, with a grand reopening targeted for mid-November.

A Partnership Focused on Tenant Growth

The expansion also reflects the relationship between Laundry Luv and Only Epic Holdings, owner of the 3202 N. First Street property.

At 14,405 square feet, the expanded Laundry Luv location will be significantly larger than a typical laundromat in the United States.

According to the Coin Laundry Association’s 2024 Laundry Industry Survey, the average laundromat is approximately 2,850 square feet, and only 8% of surveyed locations measure 5,000 square feet or more. At nearly five times the industry average, the Abilene location will stand out not simply for its size, but for how that space is being used.

Instead of dedicating the entire footprint to additional machines, Laundry Luv is incorporating areas for families, community programming, customer comfort, operational support and complementary services.

The investment also includes a new, highly visible Laundry Luv pylon sign at the property. Wimberly said drive-by visibility remains the company’s leading source of new-customer awareness, making the upgraded signage an important part of introducing the expanded location to the Abilene community.
